Here’s what’s happening around St. Louis today — a record airport investment, a new Cardinals general manager, a Blues loss in Nashville, a downtown food hall’s big opening weekend, a Shake Shack on the way, and a fall festival finale.
City Completes Largest Bond Sale in Its History for Lambert Airport
The City of St. Louis has priced and sold about $460 million in Series 2026 Airport Revenue Bonds, the largest bond transaction in the city’s history, to fund approved capital improvements at St. Louis Lambert International Airport over the next several years. The city says it received more than $4 billion in orders from investors across the country, and the bond issue is scheduled to close on November 24, 2026. Proceeds will not fund the Consolidated Terminal Project.
Why it matters: The deal locks in long-term financing for Lambert’s infrastructure — and the oversubscribed order book is a vote of confidence in the region’s economy.
Cardinals Name Rob Cerfolio General Manager
The Cardinals promoted 34-year-old Rob Cerfolio to general manager on Friday, making him the first GM under president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom and the club’s first general manager in two years. Cerfolio, who joined from Cleveland in October 2024 as assistant general manager for player development and performance, will serve as Bloom’s No. 2 overseeing baseball operations. The move follows Randy Flores’ departure on Monday to become the Houston Astros’ general manager.
Why it matters: With the GM meetings in Las Vegas next week and a rebuild still underway, the front office now has its second-in-command in place.
Blues Drop Third Straight, Fall 3-1 to Predators
The Blues lost 3-1 to the Nashville Predators on Saturday afternoon at Bridgestone Arena, their third straight defeat. Jimmy Snuggerud gave St. Louis an early lead, but Steven Stamkos and Ross Colton scored for Nashville, Roman Josi had two assists, and an empty-net goal sealed it. Juuse Saros made 24 saves for Nashville; Joel Hofer stopped 26 for St. Louis.
Why it matters: The Blues (7-8-2) head home to face Detroit on Tuesday looking to stop the skid.
Wash Ave Food Hall’s Grand Opening Weekend Downtown
The Wash Ave Food Hall at 1122 Washington Ave. is in the middle of its grand opening weekend, running through Sunday after a soft opening earlier in the week and a ribbon cutting on Friday. The hall has eight food concepts, two bars, and indoor-outdoor seating under retractable roofs, with vendors including Steve’s Smash, Arzola’s Tacos, Little BAO, and Pretzel Pop from Gus’ Pretzel Shop. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Why it matters: It’s the latest bet on downtown’s Washington Avenue corridor — and a new lunch and nightlife stop for residents and workers.
Shake Shack Coming to River City Casino on Nov. 17
Shake Shack will open its newest St. Louis-area location inside River City Casino & Hotel on Tuesday, Nov. 17, with an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting and a noon public opening. The menu will carry the chain’s ShackBurger, SmokeShack, crinkle-cut fries, and hand-spun shakes, plus a casino-exclusive Jackpot Shake made with vanilla frozen custard, two kinds of cookies, whipped cream, and sprinkles.
Why it matters: Another national name joins the casino’s lineup — and a new dining option for south St. Louis County.
Grant’s Farm Fall Fest Wraps Up Its Final Weekend
Grant’s Farm Fall Fest closes out its season this weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free admission, a kids zone, corn maze, fall marketplace, and the Clydesdales. Parking is $18 per vehicle online or $27 at the gate. Also on this weekend: the Shaw Nature Reserve Art Show in Gray Summit, featuring work from 30 local artists on Saturday and Sunday.
Why it matters: It’s the last chance to catch the fall festival before the farm shifts into its winter season.
That’s St. Louis today. Check back tomorrow afternoon for the next roundup.
