New Restaurants Opening in St. Louis

The following information is accurate as of an early-June press date.

May was an average month for restaurant closings in St. Louis and an anomaly for openings. Three closings is on par with last May, but there were only six true openings (vs. 26 last May), the smallest number since we began this tally back in 2008. (Not to fear, June looks to be an average month, with 20 anticipated openings.) Early last month, The Wood Shack sold its last Soulard Primer sandwich and in mid-month Dave & Tony’s closed its doors in Creve Coeur after a 13-year run. Dao Tien Bistro closed its downtown location late month; Dao Tien Express (728 S. New Florissant) remains open. On the sunny side of the street, the most significant opening was Napoli Bros. Pizza and Pasta in Chesterfield, home of the city’s only coal fired pizza oven. (It’s also the biggest pizza oven in town.)
