In the most recent USA Today 10Best Readers Choice Awards, Kaldi’s Coffee has been recognized as the top coffee chain across the United States, surpassing major competitors like Starbucks, Peet’s, and Caribou Coffee.
Rob Wilhelm, the marketing director, mentioned that they were unaware they had made the list until co-owner Tyler Zimmer received a congratulatory email. After sharing the news on social media, Kaldi’s jumped five positions from No. 10 to No. 5. Their subsequent call for support via their newsletter then propelled them into the No. 1 position overnight.
This achievement is even more significant as Kaldi’s is commemorating its 30th anniversary this month. “Reflecting on 30 years of dedication, the lasting connections with our loyal customers, and witnessing their support during such a critical time is incredibly rewarding,” states Wilhelm.
“The surge of support we received on social media and through newsletters was astounding. People were saying things like, ‘We love you. We’re voting for you every day,’” shares Aaron Johnson, director of content development. “When you feel that kind of backing from so many individuals, it’s an amazing feeling.”
What’s New
As if the award wasn’t enough to celebrate, Kaldi’s has a multitude of new offerings.
A new location has recently opened at the Siteman Cancer Center on Forest Park Parkway, with plans for expansion in the Atlanta area.
Over the past year, they launched a cold brew concentrate, allowing a variety of options, from traditional hot coffee to cocktail base. “This product offers tremendous flexibility,” says Wilhelm. Additionally, a ready-to-drink cold brew is anticipated to launch early next year, and they are already preparing for the upcoming holiday season.
In celebration of their 30 years in business, Kaldi’s is introducing a 30-month subscription alongside their existing three-, six-, and 12-month plans. “We like to view it as the perfect gift – two and a half years of coffee,” Wilhelm mentions.
